Ascending Slurs (Hammer-Ons)

Ascending Slurs are also known as "Hammer-Ons" in the Pop Music world and "Legatos" in the Classical world. The first note is struck, as per usual, by the right hand. One or more notes afterward are articulated by driving a left hand finger down on the same string in a higher fret (hence the term hammer-on). As tempting as it may be to put more force into the action, ascending slurs are better played with more velocity, rather than force.

Slurs are indicated by a curved line placed over or under the
first note played by the right hand and the last note of the slur.
